After updates, if it includes a linux image, I do:
sudo apt-get purge linux-image-3.10.0-7 or whatever ls /boot shows
sudo apt-get purge linux-headers-3.10.0-7

From a testing view, I frequently find bugs on the release .iso.
I have also found some differences in things like desktop.
Now if disk space is of interest, multiple updates occupy more and more...
Very early on, usually O.K. not much has changed.
Then a month or two in the floodgates open and anything and everything happens.
Now with rolling updates I'd expect hitches from time to time...
