I'm having these same issues. When I first installed Ubuntu 10.10, suspend was working great, but now it freezes the system.

I also deleted all hidden partition of my Asus and can't access Express Gate anymore. My Asus model is 1015pem.
Is there any way to reinstall just express gate?

Have you tried the VNC option in the FreeNX?
Using the client, go to the configuration dialog and choose "VNC" under the Desktop section.
