    [ubuntu] no virtual terminals V1 -> V6 on upgrade

    upgrading from 7.04 to 7.10 (and eventually to 8.04.1)
    this box (Dell Latitude D610) can't get any virtual terminals using ctrl-alt-f1 through to crtl-alt-f6,
    though it will get a the gui login...

    To avoid issues when changing from dual to single monitors, I change xorg.conf back to single momitor to force the aps onto one monitor by using multimonitor script. Change it to suit your needs.

    Sound worked after killing shuting down some roge processes.
    So it was due to too many processes graping at the sound and nothing to do with the kernel compile.

    And suspend2 worked again this...

    Overnight things have got better!

    I disconnected the laptop over night from the mains power, then suspend2 works like its supposed to. Totally caught me by surprise! :p :p

    suspend2 is not restoring the keyboard in this Acer 3002WLC!
    So it's stuck with a mouse-touchpad only.
    This is similar to the frozen keyboard/mouse I got with regular ubuntu suspend....
