What type of computer are you using? Are you dual-booting Leopard? Computer needs to be shutdown and rebooted for Ubuntu to properly load the firmware if you are trying to go from a Leopard boot to...
So I've been playing around with this for a while and haven't gotten it to work yet. Here's what I've tried, maybe someone can tell me where I've gone wrong.
I'm trying to remap alt-F12 as SysRq....
I'm a little confused, where did you get 0x00070068?
If I look in /usr/include/linux/input.h all the values don't look anything close to that.
Also, any idea why I have two entries for my...
I thought that the SysRq implementation was embedded into the kernel at such a low level that remapping wouldn't work.
Read the following post for information on downloading the latest PowerPC images

I see, so he's remapping the SysRq to F13. So using this method, we should be able to map the key to any key we like?
Unfortunatley Macbooks lack a SysRq key as well as an F13 key. Thanks for the post though.
Instructions on how to bless a drive are here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5166788&postcount=21
This should make your linux partition bootable.
Did you bless the partition?
You completely formatted and reinstalled? Did you leave a /home partition?
In the future, you can fix a failed update using these instructions:...
I have used dd_rescue to copy multiple partitions all with different filesystems from one hard drive to another. After it was finished cloning the drive, my macbook booted up as if the original hard...
Looks like the touch screen version would be great as a media center control interface.
I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but there's already plenty of threads discussing this issue. No need to hijack this one.
You would enter it like this:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mactel-support/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/mactel-support/ubuntu intrepid main
Assuming that you've followed the instructions correctly and loaded the firmware correctly, I've found that after upgrading the kernel or installing the isight firmware for the first time, I must...
Have you tried:
sudo apt-get install libgcrypt11
If that doesn't work, you can use getlibs to resolve all your dependencies. Check out this thread:...
Need more information on what you're running this on. Is this an older powerpc? I would expect the drive to be /dev/sda3 not hda3. Easiest thing is just to pop in the liveCD and run fsck on the...
Those instructions weren't really relevant to your original question. They are for reinstalling OSX over a hard drive that only has Linux installed on it. Not for a dual boot.
Assuming that you...
Don't scare him like that. He probably just installed grub on the wrong partition. Did you install rEFIt?
I've been playing around with ZFS FUSE on Ubuntu and the ZFS binaries from MacOSForge and although there are some issues, it seems like the benefits may outnumber the problems. I'm still getting the...
I found this tutorial to be very helpful in setting up a network share. It provides an easy to access share that will automatically appear in finder.

If he boots into the ubuntu CD, will the swap drive even be mounted? I would think he should boot up the computer as usual, disable the swap partition, comment it out in fstab, delete it with...
Perhaps the easiest approach would be to remove the swap partition, install windows by deleting the fat partition and have the installer do all the work formatting. It shouldn't have any problems...
