    As many have stated, you are best with command line + good editor. Some have suggested gedit. I don't like it, I prefer Kate (KDE), but this is a personnal choice.

    bcm43xx driver is not yet finished. This is why you get those TODO warnings. They are ment for the developpers. I think (I could be wrong) this is not related to your problem.

    I must say that I tryed many firmwares for my 4306 card, many of them didn't worked.

    I think it would be better if their was a kind of database on firmwares and their location, maybe on the wiki?...
