[ubuntu] Re: where to get GIMP 2.5.1 for ubuntu 8.04?

Hmmm what's wrong with the version you can get of repos? It's the latest stable version and it doesn't require much effort installing.

    [ubuntu] Re: Good Music Player

I just wanted to say that if all you need is listen to music - XMMS must be the best choice. It does not require a lot of resources and it plays music well.

As for myself - I use Amarok but I have...

[ubuntu] Re: [firewall] use it or not? which?

I use Firestarter myself and I don't see a point why I shouldn't. It blocks unnecessary ports, etc. If you're on Unix or Linux it doesn't make you 100 percent safe. That's what I think.

[ubuntu] Re: WOW (Burning crusade) installed on Laptop

Ah, so it's pay to use.. Not a gamer myself. Btw, I actually heard somewhere that if you compile it yourself, it's free, and you only pay for .deb, .rpm. Is that true?

I've seen that Cadega have specific setting for WoW which might make installation easier. That's in case if you'll want to try Cadega instead of Wine.

    [kubuntu] Re: Invisible input fields?

No, this is how my KDE looks like. I have two taskbars so it *might* remind GNOME. No GNOME is actually installed in my machine.
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Rhythmbox and WoW, only 1 with sound at a time?

Some sound drivers allow only one program to use sound card at the moment. I would say it's OSS, so you should change into ALSA. Well eh, just wait for a better reply. :)

Well, I think Amarok is just right for your needs... You can try Songbird if you haven't yet.

    [kubuntu] Re: Kde 4

Well, KDE 4 is said to be stable. But I'd say it's still bit more wise to stay with KDE 3 until newer versions of KDE 4 will come out fixing bugs, etc. You can revert to KDE 3 with no problem, simply...

I don't think my uber tweaked Kubuntu is faster than Win XP (dang, I haven't seen xp for ages). But come on - XP came out in 2001 and Heron in 2008! :)
