Even though there was a soname bump, shouldn't the older version of the respective library be installed as a dependency, when downgrading packages? It seems like there was some manual library...
So your HDMI output does not seem to work? Or was your "standard monitor" connected to HDMI, too? I have also had issue with HDMI lately, but it is due to bug in newer kernels.
I would like to know, if there is such a PPA available for 18.04 or 20.04.
I asked this, because ppa-purge software does some guesswork on renamed packages when downgrading in order to purge a PPA. Can we assume that soname bumps are possible only for packages that contain...
That article does not say, if the soname bumps may affect to naming of the packages that contain the soname bumped libraries. At least sometimes in the past the package names have had some numbering,...
I wonder, if a soname bump can happen when using some PPA in Ubuntu 20.04, for example? Can you give a detailed example of such a case?
I just installed Xubuntu 19.10 and mythtv-frontend version 30 from from PPA even if there was somewhat older version 30 in Multiverse repository. I took me long time to find out why playback jerks. I...
Development of the official ppa-purge has been dead long time. I did a lot of fixes and improvements to the ppa-purge in my own Git branch. Thanks to Tim Lunn for helping me with Git and Launchpad. I...
I have made improvements and bug fixes to ppa-purge (long ago), but they have not been merged, see here. My branch is here. I wonder, if it was best to fork and rename the project, as the usage is a...
gh0zt362 , it seems like this bug, which has several workarounds.
Have you succeeded in upgrading from 29? What kind of experiences you have about it?
Still there are plenty of e.g. 96kHz DACs and headpone amplifiers made for playback. And apparently some music is sold having higher sample rate. Having the ability in DAC will save you from sample...
It has balanced TRS line outs, so how would you connect it to a regular hifi amplifier that has regular RCA inputs?
Isn't that Scarlett 2i2 and made for recording music?
I am looking for a decent quality device that can convert the digital signal to analog line level signal and maybe signal for headphones.
They say anything that can not be played at 44kHz or 48kHz sample rate is unhearable. Do you agree? Are the greater sample rates just for selling more expensive DACs and headphone amplifiers? I think...
Hello Sudodus
I made presistent live USB stick of Xubuntu 18.04.1 by dus 12.3.2. In presistent session I installed nvidia-340 (in Additional drivers dialog) in order to test, if the driver works...
linux-purge is a script that helps in removing excessive kernels. It is designed to work even if /boot is full or file system has run out of inodes due to so many installed linux-headers packages....
The UbuntuHandbook article has its substance copied from this Community Help Wiki page, which I have largely edited. (I have edited the article somewhat even after the release of the UbuntuHandbook...
I updated instructions here.
You could use xenial kernels that are still updated, see here.
As for removing completely, ppa-purge does not actually purge packages currently, just remove. An option to purge could be added to it. It would not purge the packages that it downgrades even then.
I'd suggest you try my branch of ppa-purge. It has a simulation option, so it is safer to try. See more information here.
I think so yes.
Not that I know.
I don't think so, respectively.
But does this change the default setting of the system installed by the persistent live system later, as well?
