Thanks for the reply - I have since upgraded to 13.04 where all the xorg edgers stuff + kernel 3.8 w/brightness support is default.
I dont use the nvidia gpu because its not really that fast, and...
So brightness up/down is working for real now?
Regarding the freeze, do you get any useful information from dmesg?
(I'm running the same kernel on raring and don't see this issue)
Btw, do you...
I've had a similar problem - for me it was related to nouveau vs bbswitch/bumblebeed/nvidia-current(from xorg-edgers).
Solution was to get rid of it all, and install these versions:

I'm on 212, and have multitouch (2 finger scroll, 3 finger move windows, 2 finger tap to rightclick etc.).
My temperature is around 46 degrees also, but doesn't heat up - my thought is that it...
You should upgrade your kernel to 3.5 series (and to ubuntu 12.10)-
Also here's how to set up bumblebee: http://www.ivegotavirus.com/how-to-fix-bumblebee-on-ubuntu-12-10/
I only put in a SSD, and installed everything on that (never touched the internal one), and it worked.
ssd:

/dev/sda1 * ...
Do you mind sharing that blacklist for the cardreader?
btw, I did a speedtest, and think the wifi has definitely improved. Any chance you're just running on G, because those 2mb matches the max...
I use 3.6.5-030605 and it works great so far (albeit without brightness keys). I tried 3.7.0-rc4, but it introduces other problems like flickering screen, not always wanting to boot etc.
UPDATE:...
Could you try to add this to your boot parameters in /etc/default/grub, and update-grub afterwards ?
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash rootfstype=ext4 pcie_aspm=force...
Keep it simple - forget about that internal SSD, and just install everything on a SSD that replaces the standard HDD.
The internal SSD is slow/small, and it isn't worth the extra work to install...
But now it works, so I guess that will prove useful someday - thanks for your time, and maybe @wonghang will be able to work on CUDA now :)
Wow, it works :)
However speed is nothing to brag about:
sfs@sfs-laptop:~$ glxspheres
Polygons in scene: 62464
Visual ID of window: 0xb8
Context is Direct
Ah, There's some extra steps in this guide compared to what I tried - thanks a bunch for the info :)
@wonghang - this might be the way for you to get all things working (newer xorg/intel, and...
Sorry, I was talking to you :) - could you please share the instructions for bumblebee on 12.10 ? I have tried it for a month ago without success ;(
What kernel are you using in 12.04 ?
Ok, I wasn't aware that you needed the dedicated GPU that much - I mainly chose the UX32VD for the expandability over UX31A.
I know bumblebee has problems on quantal, so I would not advise you to...
The capslock blinking error is related to a race condition on bt-usb, if I boot with a nano usb-receiver it will almost always crash. Remove the usb-receiver and it will boot normally again.

I think this issue has gotten a whole lot better, I seldom have any problems. Before this would happen all the time, and G was the only stable wireless to use.
Glad to help :) - it has tricked me more than a few times :)
Please try to reset your unity settings (type 'unity --reset' in a terminal without sudo)
Reset compiz aswell:
rm -rf...
I imagine you already tried apt-get install ubuntu-desktop ?
Sometimes it helped to pull in needed dependencies for me.
Else, yes - a reinstall :(
I have my UX32VD running right here on latest updates (from last night), no problems except for the messaging-applet not containing any entries (which I can live with).
I suggest you try with a...
I also didn't need the gpu, but I liked the better possibilities for upgrades. The performance/size of the ssd and amount of memory didn't impress me with ux31a,
But it all depends on what you...
You can easily get 4 hours of battery, even more with jupiter or similar installed, it does very good on saving battery.
I have an UX32VD, so if you plan to upgrade the ssd or memory later, go get...
I'm using alpha3 with latest updates as of today. The asus-wmi deb is the 0.2 version and works fine on 3.5.x kernels - I believe the wiki is slightly out of date on that.
I can use xbacklight to...
