If you want ndiswrapper do this:

Then run ndisgtk from your dash, it is a graphical frontend for ndiswrapper....
  4. Re: Why won't GRUB/BURG load when external drive is connected?

I think that if your boot order in the bios is:
    1. Hard drive
    2. External drive

,then there is no way that your external drive will be mapped ahead of your 1st internal drive. If you force your...

[SOLVED] Re: TRIM and discard on SSD with EXT4 FS.

That's possible. That is why i wrote that the "firmware ... may (or may not) erase those blocks". That test works for most of the SSD's, but some behave differently. (If you don't see any errors...

[SOLVED] Re: TRIM and discard on SSD with EXT4 FS.

Sorry, but I must ask this:

    hdparm –read-sector 49598792 /dev/sda

? So you run it with the same number as in the article? You have to change the number to the number of the...

[SOLVED] Re: TRIM and discard on SSD with EXT4 FS.

    More to add:

[SOLVED] Re: TRIM and discard on SSD with EXT4 FS.

Fstrim will always report that every unused block is trimmed after reboot. Exactly how Kingston wrote it to you. Your firmware is forgetting nothing. How TRIM works:

    - The OS sends an ATA command...

Re: Partitioning. Have I done this right

That is the Windows boot partition, which was created when you installed Windows. (For Vista and newer)
  14. Re: confusion about root account and default names account created upon installation

For sudo you use your own password, not the root's password. (On Ubuntu the root account has no password, so it is not possible to login as root.) Sudo just gives you root privileges.

    Re: Ubuntu boots to tty1

Yes. Remove any instances of "vga=" from GRUB_CMDLINE and also remove "nomodeset" from there.

If it won't help I would try a newer kernel also.

    [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu is slow.

No. Since Windows 7 prefetch is disabled on SSD drives. On SSD drives prefetch is almost useless, it only reduces SSD lifetime.
