Re: Things that you hate in Ubuntu

You can turn off thumbnailing/filetype guessing in Nautilus. I find you can strip down Nautilus so that it is faster than Explorer in almost all regards.
And you can turn on the web-browser style...

    [ubuntu] Re: Can't download podcasts

"http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/radio4/iot/iot_20090430-1045a.mp3" is not a feed! It is an MP3 file. A feed is an XML file that lists links to MP3 files, along with titles and descriptions. A...

    [ubuntu] Re: Can't download podcasts

Typically, feeds do not end in ".mp3". Try something that either ends in a number, or .xml. If you open the link in Firefox, it should ask you if you want to open it in google reader or something...

[ubuntu] Re: gutsy repositories 404 ?

Keep in mind that if you do a distribution upgrade to 8.04, that will be supported for quite a while, and you'll be able to upgrade straight to 9.10 when it comes out.
  7. [ubuntu] Re: great, 9.04 official release wont work with unetbootin

The alternate is okay. Don't worry about it. You'll still get the same desktop in the end.

    Heh, that's okay.

As for the main problem, it looks like your wireless card is not detected by the system. During my boot process, I get lines like "[ 44.317604] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link...

[ubuntu] Re: Difference Between 8.04 and 9.04

Yes. On top of that, you would have to install intrepid before you can get to jaunty. If you wait for the next long-term support release, you'll be able to upgrade directly to it.
  15. [ubuntu] Re: Making the switch - Software/Hardware Installation Worries

Most people like having the "preview" ability of dreamweaver. I have yet to find one that actually does that equivalently well. Nvu and Kompozer are okay, but pretty buggy.

    However, I much prefer...
