Don't forget that if you are using gcc 4.6, you need libstdc++6-4.6-dev

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu shuts off randomly

I think I have solved the problem at least temporarily. Setting acpi=off on boot time seems to eliminate the random shutdowns on Ubuntu.

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu shuts off randomly

I haven't had time to memtest or try the LiveCD but I have some follow-ups.

First of all, the crash happened on Windows too, for the first time, yesterday. So this might be a hardware problem.

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu shuts off randomly

I'll do this tonight. Since it shuts off randomly, I don't know how long I'll have to run the LiveCD, so I'll just leave it on overnight.

The problem only shows up in Ubuntu. At first it was 10.10...

    [ubuntu] Ubuntu shuts off randomly

I own a serp6, on which I dual boot Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7. A few months ago, Ubuntu started to randomly shut down. At the time I was running only Ubuntu 10.10. After I cleanly installed Windows...

    [ubuntu] Compiz not rendering windows

I'm having a weird problem with Compiz. It's as if, when I open a window, it does not get rendered properly. Sometimes it doesn't get rendered at all, and sometimes the only thing on the screen is...
  8. Re: Facebook and flash - why doesn't facebook recognise that I have flash installed?

The same happened to me. This is what I've done to solve it:

First, remove the 64-bit player you installed manually. I had installed it copying to /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.13/plugins/. So to uninstall...

[SOLVED] Serp6 with 1 hour battery life

Hey, as the title implies, I have a serp6 that gets at most 1 hour out of the six cell battery it came with. Is this normal? Should I look into buying a nine cell replacement?

    [ubuntu] ReplayGain on 96kHz flacs

I've got a few albums that have 96kHz sampling rate to which I cannot tag them with ReplayGain using metaflac. I would like to know if there are any other ReplayGain tools for flac files on Ubuntu.

[ubuntu] Re: Fan and light control on a serp6

Hahaha that's what I'm currently doing. I could also just leave it in another room. Anyways, thanks for the help.

I've tried that but it doesn't seem to make much difference, sound wise.

[ubuntu] Fan and light control on a serp6

Hey, I was wondering if there is any way to control the fan on a serp6. Mine is way too noisy at night and I would like to lower it's speed.

I would also like to know if there is any way to...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: Rhythmbox will always crash if try to adjut the volume when playing music in 9.10

I only experience errors when playing VBR. Maybe it's a gstreamer bug?
  15. [ubuntu] Re: Docky always on top and Pidgin notifications

Yes, but that way, the windows dodge docky. I would like for docky to overlap them.
  16. [ubuntu] Docky always on top and Pidgin notifications

Is there a way to leave Docky always on top, without having the windows dodge it? Something similar to cairo's always on top option. On a related note, ever since I upgraded Docky to it's standalone...

  18. [SOLVED] Re: Ctrl + Alt + F* shortcuts don work (except in terminal 7)

Now the shortcuts don't work in terminal 7 either. Things like Alt+F2, Ctrl+Alt+D don't work either, while most of the shortcuts in Keyboard Shortcuts work. I'm lost here.

    EDIT: Alt+Tab doesn't...
  19. [SOLVED] Re: Ctrl + Alt + F* shortcuts don work (except in terminal 7)

    Yes.

What I mean is that I could switch between VTs at any time with those commands. Now, I can only do it from VT7. I have just tried going to VT8, and I couldn't come back; I had to restart....
  20. [SOLVED] Ctrl + Alt + F* shortcuts don work (except in terminal 7)

That's the problem in a nutshell. I can switch to any terminal if I'm originally on terminal 7 with the shortcuts. However, if I'm in a X-less terminal, I have to manually issue the command

Yes, you are correct, the .pdf is an image. The first page that has all the publishing details of the article renders perfectly, since it is text. The following pages render like the image I posted....
