I reinstalled Xubuntu 8.04 and it doesn't even make it to the login Window. It freezes up as that bar goes across. Any ideas what the problem might be?

  12. Re: Xubuntu 8.4.1: have they lightened it up more?

Xubuntu is under rated, its one of the very best out there, especially for older PII and PIII computers with RAM limitations of 256MB. On a modern machine this distro will fly!

    Re: Are Compaq Presarios advisable?

Just be careful with the kernel updates, it already broke my wireless and "add/remove". My problem was fairly easy to fix. But I seen others that had worse issues than that.
