I wouldn't hang so much on that number. If the main group who would buy Linux Photoshop are professional graphic designers or design/print/web production studios, then I doubt that group is well...
Interesting, I hadn't come across that option before - thanks. They also have an offer on for $399 for the moment. I'll have to try and get hold of a demo, it seems to be missing from their other...
To be honest this question needs to be addressed to studios, companies and professional designers. They are the market for this, not individuals.
I doubt very much that many individuals and...
I've been looking at this recently. Gimpshop is v. old now, the project is running v.2.2 of GIMP rather than 2.66. Program has changed significantly in that time.
If you're running 32-bit then I...
Things we miss on Windows:
1. The ease in which you installed soundcards or printers. On Ubuntu, old creative cards have been a PITA to configure for Skype, some are still not working with the...
We completely switched the office over to Ubuntu about 15 months ago now. All our workstations and laptops are Windows free. The Ubuntu team should give themselves a well deserved pat on the back....
Absolutely. Ubuntu/Linux needs a Photoshop equivalent if it is ever going to secure it's place over Windows in the workplace. At the moment the substitutes are not there.
Gimp is more powerful...
Thx Cheesemill
Yep I took a look at that on my travels but all the links to the 64 bit version have gone dead. Also it's running on v. 2.2, which is very dated compared to the current Gimp v....
Hi
I'm trying to make Gimp look a little more like PhotoShop to make the transition across easier. After a lot of searching, I found that the new version of Gimp has the ability to do this.

I'm seeing the same behaviour here on my Dell Inspiron 6400. Flickering on the right hand side - horizontal lines, esp when moving windows about. I notice this is more visible when using Firefox than...
I've just followed these instructions and successfully installed the full (paid) 64 bit version of Pixel on 8.10 Intrepid.
All seems to be working - thanks linuxed!

Hi,
I first thought this was limited to Firefox but I'm now getting crashes on many of the windows (incl. synaptic package manager etc.).
When I run FF or Opera in the CLI I get "segmentation...
Thanks Bill - but it looks like this is a bigger problem than just Firefox. I now get segmentation fault errors on Opera, Swiftfox and FF. I also get crashes on other windows, including the package...
@fuzin
Just installed Flash 10 player. Here are the instructions:
# sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree

Hi everyone - thanks for the replies
@mrsudo
Yes I read that after I had posted. I removed the flash extension and for a little while it seemed stable again. Then I got a crash. I've read...
I'm getting repeated crashes with latest FF 3.0.1 on Ubuntu 8.04. I've upgraded everything in package manager and removed all extensions from FF. Still happening.
I've also installed Bonager and...
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm beginning to think changing to a a web based option maybe the best way forward. This project "TimeClock" looks worth a try (ClickTime looks excellent but runs at...
Hi Garfonzo
I don't want to linkdrop here but the software is called "PunchClock Pro/LionClock Pro" - if you search on Google with that it is the first result (Lionclock.com)
There aren't any...
Hi,
We're trying to move our office from XP to Ubuntu. One of the applications we rely on is a punchclock application. It lets everyone here punch in and out of work and records all their hours....
