[SOLVED] Re: Finding a **secure light weight browser

How much malware actually targets Linux though? Whilst it is technically possible, is it worth worrying about to the extent of running noscript all the time? Genuine question.

[SOLVED] Re: Trouble finding a **secure light weight browser

333 MHz is a bit on the slow side but check your hard drive. A relatively cheap SSD could massively improve performance. Multitasking is largely controlled by the processor anyway, not so much by...

Re: Reviews of Docks for XFCE

    OK fair enough!

Dockbarx only increases RAM usage by 10-20MB at most which I would not class as bloat. I use Windows 7/8 everyday at work and I do find the taskbar helps productivity in a...

[SOLVED] Re: Trouble finding a **secure light weight browser

Midori has adblock, Flash block and custom scripts. I haven't tried it in ages but the Arch wiki has some useful info: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Midori

In the end it might be better to...

Re: Reviews of Docks for XFCE

I have updated my blog post now to clarify what I am talking about :)

But surely if you want something to work more like OS X you would want a dock? After all, it's one of its stand-out...

Re: Reviews of Docks for XFCE

Do you find it buggy? It crashed for me on numerous occasions (on Debian Jessie)... Highly configurable, but I just couldn't live with it or recommend it to others (yet).
  7. Re: What computer setup(s) have you tried *buntu or other Linux on?

Installed and using Xubuntu 14.04 on a Lenovo 3000 C200 laptop. It shipped with Vista, then I upgraded to 7 and 8, but only now is it running nice and smooth:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2350 @...
  8. Re: Systemback - Software to make an image of your installed OS

Thanks, sounds good. I'll definitely be testing it soon :)
  9. Re: Systemback - Software to make an image of your installed OS

But Remastersys is no longer developed and as I understand each new Ubuntu version breaks Remastersys (I am happy to be corrected). BlackLab Linux took the code and redeveloped it for their own...

    Re: GMX email client?

I use GMX, but the other way around - I collect emails from GMX into Gmail!

I too have searched the web interface but can't see any obvious way to import contacts full stop. You can create a...
  11. Re: Systemback - Software to make an image of your installed OS

Sounds interesting. In the past I have also used remastersys and mklivecd (on pclinuxos). Right now i have found the Retracta tools to be the best current option but I'll definitely give this a try...
  12. Re: Teamviewer 9 disconnects after about 10 seconds?

Been using Teamviewer 9 for well over a month on Xubuntu 14.04 without problems. It kicks you off after a period of inactivity, but we're talking 10-15 minutes not seconds.

Re: Reviews of Docks for XFCE

Yes that's a good point and I'll update the post later. I have already gone to some detail in an earlier blog post on how to use xfpanel to create a chrome os type dock, but in this instance I was...

    Re: Junoesque June Screenshot Thread

A happy coincidence then :). I have found Cairo Dock a bit buggy but I am mostly experimenting in VirtualBox so that may be part of the reason - but it's amazing how customizable it is, so I might...

Hey Ringi, I haven't used Amarok in years, but it's looking good. Really nice GTK theme, which one is it?
Have fun with Xubuntu, there's not much you can't do with it.

Just installed Xubuntu 14.04 and decided to try and make it look like Android 4.2 for some reason:
