post you /etc/network/interfaces
do :
rsync --help
man rsync
and try to see how to do this
please post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf
please do:
sudo /sbin/ifconfig -a
sudo netstat -rn
and post the results :popcorn:
you need to edit your /etc/network/interfaces file
here is what you should do:
put your xp cd , boot your pc
when asked press R to Repair windows
you will enter a terminal window
select your oparating system
enter your Administrator password...
i guess you mean you can't boot your xp.
if so you should edit your /boot/grub/menu.lst file
and make sure your xp is there.
ubuntu 8.04 comes with firefox-3, this is not a stable version yet
you shuld remove it and install firefox-2
