[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Pro? What's This?

Most of my important files (I mean music videos lol) are backed up on air-gapped drives. I think I'll be OK with bog-standard Ubuntu LTS update patches. I have more than one computer and OS anyway....

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Pro? What's This?

I don't disagree Fu, and I take as many precautions as I can (within reason). I'm usually patched and up to date (on Mac as well). I originally switched to Linux to avoid Windows and its dodgy...

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Pro? What's This?

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the options, but as I am careful where I surf (no social media), I reckon bog-standard security should be fine. As I am not employed by MI6 or GCHQ (or am I? lol) I...

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Pro? What's This?

OK thanks Fu. I normally upgrade to LTS releases a short while after they're released anyway.

    [ubuntu] Ubuntu Pro? What's This?

Do I need this, or is it unnecessary?

I'm just a bloke with a laptop running Ubuntu. I'm not Mark Shuttleworth or any sort of...
  8. Re: Recent update (Ubuntu) has borked Brave & Chrome

Firefox is definitely reverting back and staying as my default after this fandango.

Brave is back (after an update). Hurrah!
  10. Re: Recent update (Ubuntu) has borked Brave & Chrome

Looks like the fix patch has worked. At least for Chrome. Brave is still toast.
  11. Re: Recent update (Ubuntu) has borked Brave & Chrome

I'm using the bog standard Firefox, almost certainly a snap, but it seems fine to me. I'm not a fan of snap browsers TBH, but they seem to be trying with Fx. Can you recommend a good (Ubuntu/Debian)...
  12. Re: Recent update (Ubuntu) has borked Brave & Chrome

OK, cheers for the info mate. I'm hoping for an update fix sometime in the future. Meanwhile Firefox is holding its own, I forgot how good Fx was. :o

    Thanks for the info.
  14. Re: Recent update (Ubuntu) has borked Brave & Chrome

OK thanks mate. So, where are those logs exactly and I'll try to post them. Cheers.
  15. Re: Recent update (Ubuntu) has borked Brave & Chrome

Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, but to no avail. I've read this has happened to people. Both Chrome and Brave were installed via the Terminal.
  16. Recent update (Ubuntu) has borked Brave & Chrome

The last update has seriously compromised Chrome and Brave's ability to render. How do I fix this? Firefox is fine. Thanks.

    Re: Locked Out

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it was purchased new with Ubuntu installed. I wasn't prompted to set a password as far as I recall. I just get a log-in screen. Thanks for the link.

    Locked Out

Hello, I've locked myself out of my new StarLite 11-inch Ubuntu Linux Mini coreboot Laptop. I don't recall making a password. I've had three strokes, so I'm not cognitively all there lol. How do I...
  21. [ubuntu] Re: Firefox Password Manager Won't Access The Correct Password

Still there. I can't believe I'm the only person who has experienced this.
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Firefox Password Manager Won't Access The Correct Password

    ok thanks
  23. [ubuntu] Firefox Password Manager Won't Access The Correct Password

I used my prime password to access Firefox's password manager'. I used the correct password. It would not access it and froze Firefox. Has anyone had this happen to them.
  24. Re: New Firefox Password Manager opt-in or opt-out?

OK, I'm now seriously considering KeePassXC as you recommended it. I'm scared enough. The recent Google bork scared me sufficiently. I was fine according to Google with nothing compromised. Why do...
