  1. [lubuntu] Re: Trying to write recovered files to external drive in Photorec

Photorec has no limitations on NTFS. He/she is just havinging a hard time navigating the filesystem to find where the external is mounted. Formatting to ext2/3/4 will make the data recovered useless...
  2. [lubuntu] Re: Trying to write recovered files to external drive in Photorec

It will be in /media/YOUR DRIVE/ not just the media folder (Where Your drive is the name that shows up, usually the only folder).

You can also run the "mount" command to see where it is mounted
  3. [lubuntu] Re: Trying to write recovered files to external drive in Photorec

And NTFS read/write drivers have been stable in Linux for years, so that can be used also if you need to store files larger than 4gb. There are certain programs that have limitations that require a...
  4. [lubuntu] Re: Trying to write recovered files to external drive in Photorec

Do not do that. You will be unable to access the files on Mac or Windows if you do. FAT is universally used, the only time to change that would be if you need files larger than 4gb.
  5. [lubuntu] Re: Trying to write recovered files to external drive in Photorec

It does not matter if it is NTFS formatted the problem is you will need to move to the directory from the current directory you are in (a terminal session always starts in the "Home" directory.

    [ubuntu] Re: Failed Dependancies

I know this is an old thread, but I figured out what the issue is. The two lines that need to be changed in the make file are:

    @if ! (ls /usr/lib/ | grep libcups.* > /dev/null); then echo "libcups...

[all variants] Re: Guide to Get the Best Performace from the GMA 500

Could not agree more. If you want to complain to anyone it would be Intel. Ubuntu/canonical is giving us this amazing operating system for free, lets only complain to the people responsible for using...

[all variants] Re: Guide to Get the Best Performace from the GMA 500

If all you need it decent 2d etc, do not waste your time with EMGD. Use the psb_gfx (now gma500_gfx) re-spin of 12.04 from lucazade. Works out of the box (more or less).

    Check back a few pages,...

[kubuntu] Re: iphone version 5.0.1 sync with kubuntu

Actually all versions of the iphone prior to 5.x will sync natively, in any music player of your choice (rhythmbox banshee gktpod). The libraries that allow this have been upgraded to work with 5.0.1...

[all variants] Re: Guide to Get the Best Performace from the GMA 500

You no longer need xorg.conf. Have you tried just downloading the standard ubuntu 12.04 beta and using that? You do NOT need a special kernel or anything other than a simple workaround to get X to...

[all variants] Re: Guide to Get the Best Performace from the GMA 500

To add to the discussion even though everyone already did a pretty good job of explaining it, the outlook is quite good for 12.04. I have been running it with the gma500_gfx drivers with almost no...

I would follow this advice, and post back here if you get stuck anywhere. It should be working properly, other than the occasional bug from 12.04 being in beta. I have been running it for the last...
