Somewhere throughout our steps in activating the Wacom my soundcard was disabled. I've tried muting and unmuting different audio controllers to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I just discovered that the mouse works as long as it isn't resting on the tablet, but held just above it. Haha, strange...

So, the pen is now responding, but the Wacom mouse is not.
