[ubuntu] Re: Windows opening under menu bar

I had the same problem. I fixed it with the compizconfig-settins-manager.

    Install with:

    sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

If it doesn't show up in your main menu (like it...

[lubuntu] Re: Launched apps don't get focus in oneiric

I have this issue too. I haven't edited any files and I didn't even have openbox or the config app installed. I am running gnome-throwback on oneiric if that has anything to do with it. I'm going...

If you're not already running Gnome-Fallback, it's a really quick install. After installing, logout and log back into...
  4. [ubuntu] "Connect to server" won't... well, connect to server!

I'm running Oneiric with Gnome-fallback and when I go to Places -> Connect to Server and enter in my ftp server details, I can never get it to connect. It just sits there for a long time...

  7. [ubuntu] Re: 11.10 worked fine, then today's update killed my sound

OK, I got them reverted, but I need to wait for another process to finish before I can reboot (assuming I need to).

  8. [ubuntu] Re: 11.10 worked fine, then today's update killed my sound

OK, these are the two that stand out:
    alsa-utils (1.0.24.2-0ubuntu8, 1.0.24.2-0ubuntu8.1)
    indicator-sound (0.7.8-0ubuntu1, 0.7.9-0ubuntu1)

The rest was a bunch of bluetooth updates, printer...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: 11.10 worked fine, then today's update killed my sound

You guys are right (of course)... I don't know how I missed that!

Anyway, any other advice on the real problem is appreciated. I'll post up any info I find from the history.

    Thank you,

  10. [ubuntu] Re: 11.10 worked fine, then today's update killed my sound

Thanks for the reply, but neither Synaptic, nor the Software Center have a link for history or logs or recent installs/upgrades as far as I can tell.

  11. [ubuntu] 11.10 worked fine, then today's update killed my sound

Like the title says, I upgraded to 11.10 and got everything working fine (switched over to Gnome fallback if that makes a difference). I got today's update notice and ran all the updates, as I do...

[ubuntu] Re: Unable to move Home directory

OK, so the "mv -R" didn't work, but upon researching it, it seems that it's because "mv" is, by default, reclusive, so I left off the "-R". I also added in the "-m" that gmargo suggested.

    I also,...

[ubuntu] Re: Unable to move Home directory

Thanks for the response K.J. Just to be clear, when you reference "home" above, are you really talking about "home" (where all users' home folders are stored) or "home/billy" (my individual home...
