Re: Update manger failed - read no connection

I think the best thing to do would be to backup your data, and do a fresh install of either 12.04 LTS (Good for 5 years) or the latest version 12.10.

This specific printer seemed to have worked for a previous user. Try this out before making the switch back to Windows.

[ubuntu] Re: Dual boot on 128gig possible?

OP said it was a 128GB SSD.

I just did this same thing on a Win7 Dell, not SSD but the new 12.10 Installer is a breeze for dual booting.

[ubuntu] Re: Dual boot on 128gig possible?

This is absolutely possible, and should be pretty simple.

All you have to do is make a new partition for Ubuntu.

If windows 7 is currently installed and is taking up all 128GB of space you...

[ubuntu] Re: error: no such device

From past experience I found the grub rescue utility to be useless, complicated, and frustrating.

Try Boot Repair - it may fix your problem!

Re: Using the old desktop in 12.04

This is about as good as its going to get. You cannot run Gnome 2 in 12.04 but the gnome panel or "gnome classic" pretty much looks and feels the same.

Really easy to install and configure though...

[ubuntu] Re: How to burn a booting CD ?

What he is trying to do is impossible.

He wants to make a "Live CD" that runs his SpyHunter software which is a windows antivirus I am assuming. (since he says its an .exe) This would require...

    [ubuntu] Re: Google earth

It seems the latest version "7" is still in beta, why don't you try installing the previous version "6.2"

Click on advanced setup on the download page and select the previous version.
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Battery charge stops at 49% or time duration

Can you take a screenshot of the power statstics?

Click on the battery on the top right, click on Battery --> Laptop Battery --> Screenshot of the entire thing (you may have you scroll down).

[ubuntu] Re: How to burn a booting CD ?

I understand what you are trying to do -- but you cannot do it. You cannot make a live CD that runs an antivirus that was made for windows (in this case your .exe file)

    EDIT: Bottom line -- you...
