    Just in case it's a silly mistake, did you try moving the trackpad or hitting some keyboard buttons? When it resumes it should resume to a locked screen, any input will make the password field...

    Thanks for that, really helpful, although it's still slower. :( It still takes about 6 seconds to pass control over to Ubuntu, whereas when OS X was installed it took about 1-2 seconds.
