[all variants] Re: DYMO label writer How-To

There wasn't a template for this label, I was able to reduce the issue somehow by adding a negative label positioning in the template by hand (not ideal, maybe glabels could permit this).
    I also...

[all variants] Re: DYMO label writer How-To

There is a new package that doesn't need any modifications with the latest gcc:

    http://www.dymo-label-printers.co.uk/dymo-cups-drivers-1.4.0.tar.gz

    from here:...

[all variants] Re: Secure-delete (sfill) duration?

Yes, using Ctrl-C is preferable, but killall sends a SIGTERM signal by default and sfill does a clean exit when receiving it. So either way will work. :-)

[all variants] Re: Secure-delete (sfill) duration?

    No problem! ;)

zfs is much more than that. It's a file system that works like an abstraction layer above disks. I think you can attach disks outside your machine (NAS and disk arrays using other...

[all variants] Re: Secure-delete (sfill) duration?

    Yup

I assume it only works on the / partition. You'd have to run it on a directory belonging to each partition you want to wipe. Since sfill works by creating a file and writing data in...

[all variants] Re: SOLVED: Secure-delete (sfill) duration?

Hi Tank, I'd say that 15 passes is overkill, unless you're preparing drives with sensible data to sell or give away. I've read a couple of discussions on recoverability of data after 1 or 2 passes...

[all variants] Re: Secure-delete (sfill) duration?

Yup, it dereferences the file it created for cleanup.

When the process is all done you also get the disk space back, it just takes too long. :-)

[ubuntu] Re: jackd for 2 soundcards

I got 3 cards to work with the following (I just use it for playback, great for mixxx):

    .asoundrc

    pcm.multi_playback {
    type multi
    slaves.a.pcm hw:0
    slaves.a.channels 6

[ubuntu] Re: Fuzzy sound blues (MacBook 2.1)

Is it coming from the left channel? I read somewhere that there was a fix on the development kernel, but no patch was pulled to fix this on the current Intrepid kernel (assuming you're using the...

[all variants] Re: Secure-delete (sfill) duration?

Do you understand what sfill does? ;)

It creates a file that will occupy all your free space, fills it up with random data various times and then deletes the file (it will do so safely if you...

    Re: Ubuntu 7.04 and Netbeans

Kind of. It should be simpler to manage uninstalling with dpkg. It would be cool to see java really integrated in Ubuntu, easy installation, without that cheesy download move (maybe would change...

Re: Metisse, a *useful* accelerated desktop

The origin window moves out of the way, that's what's new. The copy/paste is the feature because the window moves out of the way on that action, I guess.

That is just to show the window...

Export a desktop to an external monitor, use an application on the local screen and see the outcome appear on the exported duplicate window, could be one of the uses. By this you don't have to show...
