I recently setup a vpn connection to a remote network but am running into the oddest issue, I am unable to connect to common CDNs such as code.jquery.com. Here is some information to set the stage:

I believe it did allow me to connect to a 5Ghz band, but can not say for sure. Give it a try and if so, please report back so others will know.
Well if you are going for security, I would disable: PEX, DHT, LPD, UPNP, and uTP
on top of that you should "Require" encryption.
You may wanna look into merging multiple blocklists from that...
Have you tried it with another client, just to ensure it is not a network/firewall issue?
Try the following:
For the username, use the username and password that are shown on the localphone site. Check under Services->Internet Phone. If it complains about the username, try the...
Might take a look at this for mounting sftp, came on it through a quick google.

Yup, or there is the MS sync toy. It should do what you want, but beware and keep a backup as syncing can go haywire sometimes (especially if both sides get changed for some reason.)
What types...
You could put together a vbscript to switch between the two hosts files when you run it. You might need to reboot for it to take effect but that is not a big deal.
This way you have one for LAN...
Ok just to clarify something, there is not going to be a way to browse the samba network without redirecting your traffic.
As far as being able to access it by name, make an entry in the "laptops"...
What did not work? If you have the drive mapped and can get to it via ip the the hosts file would work by allowing you to type the name instead of the ip. It would not allow you "browse" the shares...

You might need to run a virtual box as mentioned or wine, but yes.
See the other replies or look above.
Yes, check out a live version of gparted and your golden. You may need to run the...
Well if you are going for easiest, I would just get a new router (or an old one and put dd-wrt on it).
Other than that you can try firestarter to setup the network sharing.
How long ago did you put in the request for the dns? it can take upto 72 hrs in some case.
Why not just go through the installed packages and see for yourself?
Here is a shot in the dark, as I don't know enough about your setup:
Have you checked the samba settings on the DVB (assuming it is linux based), it could be the settings on the server are over...
Try booting from a live cd and try it, if it is still an issue then check your connection/router as the problem could be there.
Well I can think of two solutions one easy one is a pain.
Easy
If the ip works, then just edit your hosts file (/etc/hosts) and put the computer name in there and point it to the ip
10.8.0.1...
I also have some invites, but you guys have to give your email address to get one. PM it if you don't want to post it.

You prolly will not be able to tell as most of the web spread viruses are done through activex, brower, or plugin exploits. These, for the most part, do not exist in Linux.
Now there are plenty...
I highly doubt they would, unless your router reports all MACs that connect to it to your ISP (never seen this done personally). The only MAC anyone (outside of your home-network) should be aware of...
Most certainly not true! It is possible to do this via wireless too.
