Thanks. Unfortunately, it's my sister-in-laws and I set her up with Ubuntu two years ago. Her old printer worked great but died. She has a windows laptop, though, so she can at least use it.

I have spent a good hour and a half trying to get this printer to work on ubuntu 8.10.

Yes, I did. I'm thinking there is some problem with the fact that my cpu doesn't seem to be recognized. I have my old Athlon X2 and I may pop it back in and see if that changes anything.
