First solution worked for me too. Thanks. God only knows how a 'regular' user is supposed to deal with this kind of thing :-P
Spoke too soon -> solved: http://guide.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1533037
I have exactly the same problem - but I'm using Nvidia drivers.
I'm still getting problems. I have to power off my machine, because everything freezes.
I'm going to try to find a PPA with a newer version of Compiz and see if that sorts the problem out.
Okay .. found a solution.
I downloaded the latest drivers from Ralink website (rt3070) and used a patch supplied by a user in this thread...
Same problem here.
I have the same problem, but nvidia-settings ends up being uninstalled on an apt-get upgrade.
I'd previously installed the .11 version from an ubuntu deb as a quick fix.
Well - I've moved to netbeans because Aptana dumped PHP. I like the IDE, but it did seem sluggish (even compared to Aptana / Eclipse).
I've found a solution:
Find and open your netbeans.conf...
Well, I had a whole slew of errors associated with my hard drive .. DRDY errors .. CRC check errors .. invalidations. My computer would only boot intermittently. My filesystem started to break...
I managed to break my computer trying to get this working ;)
Did you have any luck in the end?
Thank you so much for this .. you're a life saver :)
I'd be interested in working out a similar solution. At the moment, I can get my headset to pair - but it doesn't seem to be usable with Ekiga (which I use for VOIP).
Will post here if I find out...
@tomchiverton;
I wish I'd had the sense to do the same :) .. I think the debs are probably still in my cache so I might just manually install those from a few versions back.
I'm not sure I...
HI
The lastest round of MESA and intel drivers seems to have completely broken my X windows. Messed up fonts, laggy performance and no compiz.
This kind of thing is happening far more...
@ENigma885
Thanks for the confirmation - I guess we just have to hold tight.. pretty annoying though ;)
It would be nice if we could roll back a revision and stick with it in cases like this,...
Hi
I've been using the Intel driver from the edgers ppa + the latest kernel for a while now, and it's been working well. Nice fast graphics and dual screen capability too. Every so often the...
Well - it hasn't happened to me again (touch wood, I'm running the latest kernel, and I've changed BIOS vs a few times). Not sure what caused the change though.
The version of anyRemote in the standard Jaunty repositories didn't work for me.
I managed to get the program working with Ubuntu 9.04 by installing the latest version from this repository:

I've had the same thing happen twice - on 9.04. It's bizarre.
Are any of you using madwifi (atheros) drivers?
I'd like to be able to do the same - specifically, I want to be able to turn off my laptop's bluetooth (which is embedded via usb) to save power.
This problem has started up again on my laptop. I think that it may have been installation of some updates, which reintroduced the problem.
Has anyone else got the same problem?
Great, thanks - saved me a headache too..
I found I could use the following shortcuts, which saves going to terminal and copying and pasting the output.
For Compiler:

Figured out the problem after a lot of red herrings....
Apparently something changed in a new version of the compiler, which means that the <algorithm> library needs to be manually included.
