I can't seem to get this working with the new 2.1 beta. I'm guessing there's a compatibility issue. Has anyone else got it going with Skype 2.1? There's a chance I'm being a real idiot.
I like it. I like it a lot. If ubuntu could make WiFi that easy then it'd really stand out from the crowd as far as Linux distros go.
A good idea but would it not be easier to simply include screenlets in the repos instead?
Something we most definitely sorely need.
I think that were the majority of users to switch to Kubuntu following the release of KDE4 then the community would respond by paying it more attention. The result of this is that more discussions...
I'm sure they did but Microsoft has hundreds of partners. We have Dell (& System76) & Dell provide Ubuntu on only a handful of machines. As there are so few variations with our pre-installed hardware...
Surely the people at Dell cannot be best pleased to find their hardware is already suffering under gutsy. They now have several problems only months after modifying feisty to suit their needs. Would...
That sounds interesting. Any idea how far it got?
Maybe they just don't like coffee?
I agree completely. I very much hope this gets included.
I did a fresh install of the release candidate which worked flawlessly. Today I've just set up the repositories for Hardy Heron on it. There were 25 changes made & everything still works perfectly. I...
Personally I think the "howmany=" line in /boot/grub/menu.lst should be set to one by default. However older kernels should be kept available, so that they are available to boot should the need...
If there was a menu choice to make a complete switch I think I might use it. A better idea though might be to have an "expand you ubuntu partition" option. So that you could either expand into free...
Would this be a text based installer or a more windows like install gui?
I voted yes, it would really add to the community feel of Ubuntu &, apart from testing, its one of the few ways in which non-programmers can affect the next release.
I couldn't agree more, Awn is fantastic. If it were up to me I'd insist it installed by default when desktop effects were turned on. I realise that is really stupid though.
The beep is very annoying in my opinion but this sounds like a fantastic compromise.
I really like that & that's surprising, as I thought I'd never got over the loss of brown planned for hardy.
That's a good idea. I might well give that a try. Though I'll admit the masochist in me does somewhat enjoy it when things go wrong & have to be fixed.
Of course the next thing to look forward to is the Hardy Heron alpha on the 29th of November. Yet more fiddling & reinstalling for all those who love it!!! I probably will reinstall for that or at...
I've done a lot of that before. When I first came to Ubuntu I tried everything & messed around with things. It must have taken about two or three weeks before I finally settled & stopped tinkering....
Why not just keep using it, the repos are the same aren't they? I know I wasn't planning to reinstall for the final release.
Ok now be honest, who here isn't planning on sleeping tonight? I for one will go to bed in the next hour or so. I guess that just means I'm not hardcore.
Me too.
