Diablo II installation has worked just fine for quite a while AFAIK. I installed it earlier this year & didn't need to do any of the things you mentioned.

Re: Best way to run MAME using sixaxis

Yes, IMO the best frontend/GUI for MAME is QMC2. As for using the sixaxis, you have it right, QtSixA is a must.

    Re: xmess.SDL and Invaders

You're trying to use a piece of software that has been long dead and no one supports it. Use the newer version SDLMESS.

Source code is available here: http://www.mess.org/downloads

    Or

    PPA:...

Re: Id software stops supporting Linux

No offense to the OP, but the title of this thread is incorrect & misleading. Just because they lost their "Linux guy" doesn't mean they're abandoning Linux. As a matter of fact:...
  5. Re: Port - Play Doom 1 or Quake 1 with Linux in multiplayer?

Use Skulltag. IMO it's the best doom source port. It has the most options & has some of the most extensive multiplayer: http://www.skulltag.com/

Use QMC2. It's the best one there is IMO: http://qmc2.arcadehits.net/wordpress/about/
  7. Re: How do you guys and gals emulate GB A? Or do you?

Opps, you're right. I was just going from memory with that one.

When I used VBA-M last it started by default with a Qt GUI, but that was a while ago.
  8. Re: How do you guys and gals emulate GB A? Or do you?

I thought VBA-m already had a Qt UI?

Any way, there is also Gambatte. Use either one of those two. They're the best and they're still in development unlike a lot of dead projects.

    Re: VisualBoyAdvance-- beginner's mess

No need to compile or download an archive of it, just install VBA-M from the repos. (Not VBA or VBA Express, just VBA-M).

Video card that supports Direct3D 9.0 or OpenGL 2.0

    Re: sdlmame, QMC2, and cheating

Shouldn't use software as the renderer unless your hardware is incapable of running mame with openGL. It takes away a lot of functionality. However, if it is the only way you can run games at decent...

    Re: Gmame and GXmame

DON'T use xmame. It's been dead for years and requires a very outdated romset.

    Use mainline mame.

    For a frontend, use QMC2.

if you want the easiest to use with the least configuration required, use pSX.

if you want something that is more configurable, with plugins, use PCSXR (not PCSX).
