  1. [ubuntu] Re: Why is Ubuntu constantly rewriting my /etc/hosts file?

FYI, the bug recommends a workaround that worked for me -- use a different loopback address that doesn't start with 127.0 -- e.g., 127.1.0.0
  2. Mobile broadband drops connection after 1 minute

    Hi all,

I'm using a Qualcomm U301 mobile broadband USB card with my 64-bit Lucid laptop. The same aircard works fine with my netbook running 32-bit Lucid, but when I connect on this machine the...
  3. [ubuntu] How to turn off laptop display when external display plugged in?

I have a new ThinkPad with an onboard Intel video card, and my goal is for the laptop display to be disabled when my external display is plugged in. I'm definitely a noob when it comes to editing...

  8. [ubuntu] Re: ndiswrapper won't recognize intel pro/5100

Yep, that's how I'm doing it as well. I've removed the XP driver from ndiswrapper and un-blacklisted the built-in driver; here's the situation now.

    # lshw -C Network
    *-network
    ...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: ndiswrapper won't recognize intel pro/5100

Thanks so much for the reply. The problem I started out with (before messing with ndiswrapper etc.) was similar to the last poster on that thread - the wireless card never reported any available...
  10. [ubuntu] [SOLVED] ndiswrapper won't recognize intel pro/5100

I've been banging my head against the wall on this one for a good long time now - new ThinkPad with Intel Pro/Wireless 5100 card. Out of box, it wouldn't recognize any hot spots when doing a scan;...
