  1. [lubuntu] Black screen after plasma-workspace removal

The upgrade from Lubuntu 18.04 to 18.10 left quite a bit of left over baggage. I've been removing some of it. I uninstalled plasma-workspace and used
autoremove --purge to get rid of the...
  2. Re: Setting a preferred refresh rate with xrandr

This thread is quite old and you may have already solved your issue, but I found this:

  3. Re: Setting a preferred refresh rate with xrandr

I think that the monitor is just limited to these resolutions / refresh rates. It's a bit frustrating. Mine had defaulted to 60.02 Hz, but I'm also finding that 59.96 Hz is providing better results....
  4. Re: Setting a preferred refresh rate with xrandr

There is someone here with a similar issue, but no answers unfortunately:

  5. Re: Setting a preferred refresh rate with xrandr

I have the same limited selection of refresh rates.

In your NVidia Settings, does it show PRIME profiles allowing you to switch between NVidia and Intel? Also have you enabled PRIME sync?

    I...

This reminds me of OpenOffice.org. 100% compatible with Microsoft Office!

    Ubuntu front page misleading

Just decided to visit the Ubuntu homepage.

    http://www.ubuntu.com/

"It works with your favourite apps"

    "Compatible with all your devices"

Granted, it's compatible with a lot of...

Re: Malware on the Android platform!

Also part of the responsibility goes to the user who downloads said app. A vulnerability was bound to be exposed sooner or later.

I don't know how sloppy the vulnerability was but Google couldn't...
  10. [all variants] Re: Firefox is too fat! (for lack of a better word)

I set all my fonts to 8 as the default size was waaaaay too chunky for my liking.

Re: Selfish or Heroic to come to work sick?

I don't think it's selfish. I think it's silly to try and avoid day-to-day viruses like cold and flu unless you've got really really weak health. I find these government videos about not spreading...

Re: Selfish or Heroic to come to work sick?

I rarely take off days due to illness, I think most people that do it often are probably just taking sickies and probably not genuinely ill. Throughout all of secondary school and sixth form I only...
  13. Re: Who's been DDOSing ubuntuforums the last few days?

I would've thought after deleting an account there would be a certain period where no one would be able to use that username, that way spammers would be able to come back, but not for say 2 years (or...

    Re: Forum Performance

I've always been impressed by how fast and reliable Ubuntu Forums is, it's only now I'm noticing quite a bit of lag. Strange that it's come about so suddenly?
  15. Re: Who's been DDOSing ubuntuforums the last few days?

That seems like rather a rubbish design fault to me.
  16. Re: Who's been DDOSing ubuntuforums the last few days?

    DELETE FROM Posts_Table
    WHERE (YEAR(Date_of_post) <= 2007 AND Sticky_Flag=0) OR Character_Count > 1000 && Paragraph_Usage=0;

    That should do it.
  17. Re: Wireless chipset, which is the best supported ,popular

My integrated Intel wireless has always worked fine, ever since I first tried Ubuntu:

Though I can't use it anymore...
