What i did was create a text file with that name in the corresponding directory and so far the compilation process was able to move forward.

  5. [ubuntu] Re: Setting permissions for external usb drive

I think you need to add "users" to the list of mount options that you have provided above (i.e. directly after "flush").
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Setting permissions for external usb drive

If you have this as an entry in your /etc/fstab file, then I think the difference is in either having the "user" vs. "users" option. Also you need the "rw" option.

[ubuntu] Re: Mounting external USB drive at boot time

You might wanna try editing your /etc/fstab so that it references your usb stick with /dev/sdbxx rather than a UUID. I think UUID are funny on vfat systems, which I'm assuming your usb stick...

  14. [ubuntu] Re: How to disconnect from a wireless network?

Maybe you can change the permission of your network device in /dev/ directory. And start program with different user IDs so that only some of the programs can access a certain networking device.

[ubuntu] Re: error updating or installing any packages

I would totally not recommend forcing an uninstall, while ignoring dependencies. you might want to exhaust all other options first, i.e. try the purge remove command:

    [ubuntu] Re: Get faster bootime?

I'm not sure how this will happen. I.e. for a perl command to be executed, which you have above, you need to have bash going. and bash is not started until somebody logs in via tty[0-6].
