My HP inkjet just died - 13 years! - and I need a replacement. My usage pattern is:
<250 pages/month
black and white only
printer should be shared among PCs
I'm looking for a printer...
I've got better results with a TS stream and project-x. Still got over 500 errors (dropped frames I guess) but no audio hiccups or audio track dying. I don't know if it's because of TS and .drv files...
Here reporting again.
Made some more experiments with mpeg-ps files from my dvb-t set-top-box.
I'm not satisfied with projectx+mplex results. Sync is ok but the process produces too many errors...
I don't know if it's relevant but I'm running debian sid (not ubuntu) and using project-x from the debian repository, not the one from doom.org.
I've just tried using project-x, as suggested in avidemux's wiki:
demux mpeg file (audio/video async) with project-x
mux video and audio with mplex -f 8 (audio/video sync now)
edit with...
I'm having the same problem with mpeg-ps files I get from my strong 5222 dvb-t tuner: vlc plays fine the raw mpeg file but I can't cut with avidemux without losing audio sync.
ffmpeg does a great...
Fine, iX series excluded.
I'm willing go Nvidia because of VDPAU. Is 210GT a viable alternative? It's cheaper (35EUR vs 50EUR) and I don't need 3D performance.
AFAIK running AM3 CPUs on...
Nvidia 220GT video cards start at 50EUR.
Motherboards with AMD 770 start at 65EUR while 760G (with ATI IGP) start at 50EUR, both with no firewire. Is there a particular reason for preferring 770...
I'm investigating and trying to refine my specs (found out I need firewire and IDE). Unfortunately the more I read the more I get confused... so here I am again :)
To summarize: need to build/buy...
My main concern is video playback performance... a working tv-out is not required but welcome (had bad experiences with Intel and good with Nvidia in the past).
I'n not near to Slovenia. Parts...
I meant high end on the Intel range. For my use I'm fine with the crappy X3100 that comes with G965. I was thinking about X4500-something or newer i3/i5 though I don't know how good is linux support...
1. Not that cheap
2. They don't ship in Europe
PC only. I've got monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. I could even reuse an old case with power supply.
That's what I was looking for at first. This PC is for my parents, so no gaming or...
What about an integrated graphic solution with some high-end Intel or nVidia chipset? If it's not good enough I could still buy a video card later.
good to know.
Never had any issue...
Well, it's rather confusing... too many CPUs out there!
I guess any Intel core 2 duo would be fine - my desktop PC has a E6300. I was wondering what was in the same range from AMD right now or if I...
I'm going to replace my parent's PC with some new desktop.
It's primary use is surfing the web and playing standard multimedia stuff.
These are the requirements:
* cheap, my parents are not...
I'm managing an high school pc lab. I'd like to install ubuntu along with vista in a dual boot setup but I need it to join the school active directory domain.
I know I can use likewise-open but I'm...
Same situation here. In my school lab I want to install a dual boot system on 10 identical pc. Vista is preinstalled on every pc in a separate partition so all I have to do is create one "master" pc...
xubuntu 9.04, fresh install.
after suspend to ram and resume screen is locked (gnome-screensaver fault I guess) even if "lock screen when screensaver is active" is not checked.
I'd like not to...
Sorry everybody, it was my fault. I changed a setting in bios and then forgot about that when I installed the new ram banks. Now all is fine.
Thanks!
What's PAE? How do I know if it's enabled and where?
I gave a look at kernel config file and found:
CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G=y
So support for at least 4Gb should be there.
I found a strange message at...
I have 3Gb installed: 2x 512Mb + 2x1Gb dual channel. Bios detects 3Gb and so does any 64bit kernel and lshw -C memory.
But when I run a 32bit stock kernel free -m, /proc/meminfo & C. all show 2Gb...
The nas would be on 24/7 so a pc would not be energy efficient enough.
Regarding brand dedicated products, limitations are you talking about?
I have one desktop, one laptop and a mythtv box connected via a wireless router and I'm planning to move all multimedia content to a separated inexpansive a low power nas unit. RAID1 is not...
