Nope. Haven't changed any defaults. Though I am using Lubuntu, which uses LXDE desktop, rather than Ubuntu.

This option appears not to be present in Lubuntu. If I remember correctly, I think you might be referring to Ubuntu instead, as I think that sounds like the layout.
