    Here in my uni in the UK, the entire physics and cs departments run linux pretty exclusively. Most of the people in those departments are running linux at home (usually Ubuntu)

    Yep this should do it. Worked for me. or else you can get a 3.5" to 2.5" ide converter cable and do the same thing from a desktop.

    Breezy support ended on the 13th April. I'd upgrade to feisty - it has some nice features, or if you want stability go for dapper - its supported till 2009 for the desktop and 2011 on the server side.

    I just bought a dell 640m. Feisty almost passed the "just Works(TM)" test.
    It installed fine, everything worked, including all the function keys, the media launch keys, wifi, sleep and hibernate...
