    a little tip for next time, wait at least a week, before you do the updates, they do not have to be applied right away. just ignore the notifications.

    strange, the 20 should work. that's what it booted with on the installer.

    you could drop down to ubuntu 16 or 16 based distro
    or
    another distro with the higher 2.16 kernel

    if you update your new install it will happen again. it took fedora & solus a day to fix, just wait it out.

    power off your computer, when you turn it on hold the shift key.

    i forget what the bug is, it's waiting for some kind of response, moving the mouse gives it a similar response.

    no fix, ubuntu...

    move the mouse while it is booting, just swing it side to side or circle as long as it is moving it'll boot right up.

    it's a kernel bug. i've seen it in other distros which have been fixed.

    i'm not happy with having to install inotify-tools, i'd prefer it just work on any distro, so i've gone with tail -f to do the monitoring for changes, same realtime effect as inotifywait,...

    moved the empty trash sound, so no matter where you empty from you get the sound.
    you need inotify-tools
