I have no idea what the heck is going on here, but I have been dealing with this for entirely too long. I am running Mint 9 (Ubuntu 10.04) and even though I have disabled "Put display to sleep when...
I have been trying to get LIRC and Amarok 2 to work together, but I am having some issues. I need to use acpi-support, but when running any of the scripts in /etc/acpi I get an error, e.g.

Thank you nickolasemp. This was really getting annoying.
A work around is to go to sound preferences and switch the output to headphones.
I also found this

It seems to have been fixed.
Bump
So I just updated from 2.6.32-22-generic to 2.6.32-23-generic and now the shift key is stuck. I tried re-adding my keyboard in hopes that would fix the problem, but it didn't. So here I am back on my...
All I need to do is restart the WAP machine. Once it restarts then all wireless computers connect automatically.
daemon.log doesn't show any errors and same thing for syslog. They both just show various handshaking messages and such.
Okay, I have figured out some of what is happening.
The wireless crashes when someone is transferring large files. It was hard to figure this out when I have 3 people doing all sorts of stuff. Now...
Okay, so I was not able to use bridging, but I was able to get rid of dhcp3-server in favor of dnsmasq. I had to add a startup script for MASQURADING in /etc/init.d/
#!/bin/bash
iptables -t nat...
Using your interfaces file as a model resulted in a loss of all internet. I have never been able to successfully use a bridge.
Do you mind posting your hostapd.conf, dnmasq.conf also? And any other relevant files. I thought getting rid of dhcp3-server worked, but in fact it didn't.
Unfortunately, without dnsmasq I cannot browse the internet through my wireless. So I must have something setup incorrectly.
EDIT: However, getting rid of dhcp3 doesn't seem to hurt things.
I was following a tutorial. I did think this was strange. I mostly use the dhcp3, so i will uninstall dnsmasq and see what happens.
Come on someone must at least know what logs to look at. I just need help figuring out what is going on. I am getting really annoyed by this.
I realize that NTFS is not a Linux file system. You absolutely can duplicate, to some extent, an ntfs file system to an ext4 file system. You just can't preserve permissions.
The problem I am...
I am trying to sync a folder across three different computers. There is a central server which is the hub and has ext4 file system. The spokes however have two different file systems; ext4 and ntfs....

I created a Wireless Access Point out of my Linux Mint box using hostapd, dnsmasq, and dhcp3-server. For some reason the WiFi loses connectivity at random times. The only way to get it back up and...
Well, I guess I had two problems then. Thank you for you help.
Yes, it is.
I can double click it and see everything, but need to access it through terminal.
EDIT: The location is hard to figure out, but I right click on a file and check properties. The location is listed...
Yes, I am able to see everything. It is quite strange.
