Like it says. Put the disc in (CD, DVD, CD-R), lots of whirring, but nothing happens. No mount, no autoplay, and cannot access Disc Drive through GUI.

Forget I said anything. Clementine just wasn't loading properly and the menu bar wasn't showing up. Restart solved the issue.

Just upgraded from Karmic to Natty (I know, but stuff came up ... for three years) on my Panp4i. Seamless upgrade so far, BUT there is a small fly in the ointment.

On all other releases...

Downloaded and burned two disks, both check out fine on my girlfriends computer.

Do you mean re-seating the disk, or opening the actual body of the laptop.

I get an almost identical error on my Panp4i, running a fresh Karmic install. Error message is the same except when I hit Ctrl-D it restarts the filesystem scan, eventually kicking me...

I haven't tried it myself, but I think what you are looking for is Avant Window Manager. Searching for that might get you the answer you want.
