Based on this single post, I went ahead and got the canoscan lide-100, previously I had HP Scanjet which also had iffy working and in 64bit system did not work. However there was no such problem...
Thanks UndoIt. This really helped. I guess internet through bluetooth is slow, looking for a similar set up through USB. The best part is, this worked in Ubuntu but not in Windows, not unless I...
Another thing you might want to check is allocated video memory in the BIOS (if this is on-board graphics card), go in BIOS and change it to max, for me it was 8 MB, I found this to be the problem...
A gentle bump .....
Ok, this has been answered before, however I just wanted to confirm. Basically when Ubuntu loads various partition are shown on LHS panel of Nautilus and in places tab, even though they are not...
If you have downloaded the deb file (ending with .deb), just right click the file, say open with deb, and click the install button, and you are done.

Can anyone guide on how to convert 32 bit driver into a 64 bit one. Is it a very involved task?
Well finally I had to reinstall/reformat the entire drive. It seems that on last install, I had used gparted to reinstall some partitions. Might be some problem in gparted, using ext4? So this time I...
Even the 'sudo df -h' shows the same thing. i.e / mounted on /dev/sda1 size 4.6 gb.
I do not understand my sda1 is 16gb as can be seen from fdisk output.
A polite .................. Bump .......................
Ok here is the output of fdisk -l, also the attached pic files shows output of system monitor where clearly root partition is less.
antony@antony-desktop:~$ sudo fdisk -l
[sudo] password for...
My scheme on one of the machine is really simple. I did a clean install of 9.10 on 40gb drive, ext4 file system, the partition 20gb for root and all, and the other 20 gb for data. Now suddenly I see...
Ok. Success, without a hitch. Disconnected the original drive, connected the second smaller drive, installed windows 7 on it, reconnected the back the original drive (keeping the smaller one), made...
Thanks oldfred, so I will go ahead with my plan, maybe next week after I complete this exercise successfully, I will write a final post and mark the thread solved.
