    What I am doing is using my (still unusable) Ubuntu machine and booting it up, and then logging in to TERMINAL and running "testdisk" and "photorec" under that to analyse the partitions...

    gave:
    sudo: Access-Your-Private-Data.desktop: "command Not Found"
