Basically the java connect applet was starting the crashing after 2...
replacing the network manager appears to have solved the issue for me.
I had this problem from the normal command line, sudo'ing it fixed the problem. Though i'd assume its running a root all ready for you
*update* yeah got the same problem when trying to auto boot...
try sudo in front of it?.
For example if i wanted to run it onthe hdd i have mounted to /media/New_emule2
sudo umount /media/New_Emule2
<enter password>
sudo fsck /media/New_Emule2
