Actually I didn't need the modem, so I didn't try anything after this posts.
But it does work for me now, could have been an ubuntu upgrade, or messing with tlp (wwan on / wwan off) and I forgot...

Well thanks for the tip, but I'm already using gobi-loader-tp
and the modem is recognized by networkmanager :(
Same Problem here on an Edge13 with ubuntu - modem is activated - connection set up (works with same settings over bluetooth tethering), but I get no connection with the gobi.
