I've been wondering exactly the same thing. I have all the bits installed same as you, but no dice. I see that the Chinese Ubuntu-derived distro Linux Deepin uses the same NotifyOSD setup as Ubuntu...
Does anyone know if its possible to show image previews in the search results in GNOME Search Tool? All I get are icons, not previews. Likewise, in Catfish search? (I've tried some other search...

Thats as may be, but if so then its pretty p*ss poor QA on a Long Term Support Release thats been out for nearly 5 months and is being touted as stable and solid enough for business Desktop use (I'm...
Just had exactly the same thing with updating from 3.2.0-29 to 3.2.0-30 kernel.
Hi Ofrog, and welcome to the forum :)
This fonts issue on Google Earth has been problematical for many people, and on other distros as well as Ubuntu.
Try this link, see if it helps:

Exactly the same scenario here - upgrade to 11.10 broke my wireless. My system isn't even recognising the Ralink chipset.
Like you, I've plugged in a Netgear USB adapter (with Atheros chipset) to...
Indeed, one can just install get_iplayer :-) And I have, and it works! :-)
HOWEVER.
I support and provide for a whole bunch of people that I've migrated to Linux, including a couple of "senior...
Just found this new blog posting on the BBC site, in response to someone else's complaint to the BBC (I've also complained to Auntie Beeb myself, but I didn't get anything so informative back...) :

Not seen that problem myself, although other peeps have. Try checking out this thread to see if its any help:

Received a reply from the BBC today. No surprises that it was a standard "cut and paste" reply which completely failed to address the issues I had raised, and just refered me to their usual online...
A simple question - if you are using Oneiric 11.10, have you got the BBC iPlayer Desktop client to work?
This question will mainly apply to users in the UK.
Also to avoid any confusion please...
Well, still no dice. Same problem now with Ubuntu 11.04/11.10, Linux Mint 11.10 and Fedora 15 and 16.
I've submitted a "complaint" to the BBC. Will post up their response if I hear back!
Sorry - duplicate post due to slow connection!
Worked great for me with Google Earth 6.1.0.4857 Beta and Linux Mint 11.10 64-Bit - so many thanks! :-) Obviously the exact lib names varied slightly with being on Oneiric, but the basic procedure...
Just thought I'd post the latest message from iPlayer when trying to download a programme to my *Linux* iPlayer desktop client. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry at this point ;-)
Following on from my previous post, I'm now getting the same problem - and the same error message - in a fresh install of 64-bit Fedora 16.
Once again, Adobe AIR is installed successfully and all...
I'm getting the same thing as the OP on 11.10 64-bit.
I'm pretty sure I've got the 64-bit Adobe Air installed OK as Tweetdeck is up and running just fine.
I've tried troubleshooting AIR's ELS...
I'm also missing "Giver" on 11.10 (its still working fine on 11.04).
Theres a workaround in the bug report (#7), but alas it didn't work for me.
"Transfer on LAN" looks interesting, although...
Just downloaded the Songbird 1.10.1 .deb from the GetDeb website, and can confirm it installs fine on both Natty 11.04 and Oneiric 11.10 once all the libgst* files have been removed from the...
Just bumped into the same issue myself...
Excellent, worked for me.
:-)
Ditto for me, did the "line 52" fix and then changed to OSS in Realplayer 11 settings - cheers!
:-)
