You could also try adding a KDE backports PPA (so you could have the latest KDE version) and stick to Ubuntu 12.04.

People need to lose the stupid mentality that anything popular is bad. Most of the issue that people encounter on Windows is a user error.

This is what people said about a Mac port and now it is officially being ported. The final piece to the puzzle would be a Linux port, which is much more likely now.
