What about TrueCombat: Elite? It seems pretty realistic to me, compared to those that you listed.
The original version of BF2 that came with my Cd's runs fine, but as soon as I patch to 1.44, it crashes at about 61% when loading a map, Wine version 0.9.58.
This might be too late, but you have to download Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and then download TrueCombat: Elite, which is a mod for it and then install them. The linux versions are both .run so...
F.E.A.R. is known not to work on Wine, last time I checked. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=5159&iTestingId=12223 shows some hacks to try.
I have seperate drives for Windows and Linux, however, is transferring those files over that hard?
If you happened to upgrade through any versions, all of them would be stored in Synaptic so just go there and change back to an earlier version.
Go to Add/Remove Programs, they have a bunch of games for you to install, many of them good ones, such as Sauerbraten, Nexuiz, Open Arena, Alien Arena, and more (you can see I like FPS's).
Are you running any widgets while playing the game?
BF2 doesn't even start, all BlitzMax tests used to run perfectly, now all crash, BlitzMax IDE is so unstable it's unusable (I realize BMax has Linux IDE, but I test extensively for compatibility). ...
A quick look at WineHQ shows that this game wasn't very well supported, but now the testing results are way outdated. I would suggest you try messing around with some options, type in winecfg in the...
Go to winehq and read the instructions there.
Wine 0.9.56 is seriously messed up.
Any Linux solutions for BF2 at the moment are utter crap so all you got left is Windows.
Ah I see, didn't notice that before. I'm not sure how to do it in Xubuntu in a simple way since I don't have it. Good luck though, I tried.
That makes sense since Wine was emulating it.
Go to System ->Preferences->Main Menu and take out what you don't want showing
Go to Synaptic package manager and search wine in there, then select it for complete removal and press apply.
Any specific games or all games? Is it always after exactly 5 minutes of playing?
Basically, nothing works. Some things can start, but only last until 3d runs or for example, in BlitzMax, as soon as I open up another tab in the editor. Window goes blue and it dies.
Have you...
The .debs mess it up for me completely
Just move files around, then?
I'm not familiar with this Wine explorer you mention. Do you mean when you right click on the .exe it has no "run w/ wine" option?
What exactly isn't working? Also, do you have virtual desktop enabled? Post your basic hardware specifications too, it might help.
You wont really know unless you try it yourself, however, looking at your hardware specs, you should be able to get very decent performance.
Right, and they said Doom 3 can be run by a Radeon 8500, recognize bull when you see it. I would be surprised if Doom 3 could even start with an integrated card, let alone try and play something...
DDR2 for video cards is a big no-no. Only go with GDDR3, or else you can say goodbye to about half your video card bandwidth (at least).
