    [SOLVED] Re: Can't access .profile file!

    lygmoo should own that file so try to access without root.

    Re: Simple Java vs Python question...I think

    The for loop in python is so hard to use. You sort of have to think another way...

    for (int i = 0, j = a; i < a ; i++, j--)
    for (int k = i; k < j; k++)

    Re: Gnome Shell: Worth all the hype?

    I think they need to change the resize and minimize of windows. It is huge inconvenient to juxtapose two windows. And once you have minimize a window there is no way to get it back unless you tab...

    Re: Insert an element after a specific item.

    Well this looks like a linked list so if you mean after I assume after the order of the element.

    What you do is you need to know the pointer to the struct to the specific item. How you do that is...

    [SOLVED] Re: Need help translating Java to C++

    Welcome back!

    I never knew that C++ had that kind of limitation.
    Another way I can think of is to make an array of struct where the structs contains an array of strings. The syntax might seem a...

    Re: Java vs. Python for CS

    If you do not need something then let it point to null. In C you would just have to call free then point it to NULL so technically if you can handle C memory then Java way of doing it should not be a...
  14. Re: Howto declare a string without knowing how big it would be in c?

    If you cannot handle memory management then C would not be a good language to write in. Beside to resize a string we do have realloc. The reason why we want to copy a string is to modify one while...
  15. Re: Howto declare a string without knowing how big it would be in c?

    Well we do know the string we put into the function. But the const keyword you need to change. Cannot free something that is locked. Beside a function should do only one thing. One reason why strdup...
  16. Re: Howto declare a string without knowing how big it would be in c?

    modify const is kinda risky... And if you allocate the string on the stack free will give you a nice Christmas tree.
  17. Re: Howto declare a string without knowing how big it would be in c?

    oh trust me you always know. If there is input then a modified fgets and getline will do its job. There is also dynamic allocation during runtime.
  18. Re: Howto declare a string without knowing how big it would be in c?

  21. Re: HOWTO: Return multiple values from a C/C++ function.

  22. Re: HOWTO: Return multiple values from a C/C++ function.

    A tuple or vector is just another data structure. Which means it can be a linked list, array or some other fancy structure. So in reality python is returning a pointer and then interpret that.

    A lot have changed since then. IO is much simpler and generics makes your life easier though still some problems if you do not use with care.
