I did finally get it to work. I was creating the link wrong, and a few other things missed.

Yeah I gave all that a go. I'm using IP's I wonder if that could be a problem? But even if I use a hosts file I still cant get it to work. D6 everything works fine. D7 I can only get sub.domains.com...
This is a very sad day for Drupal and Apache :(

So here is the deal..I am running 10.10 with the standard LAMP setup. I am running a drupal 7 site...
no unfortunately not....I have no idea where the IP would be comming from.
The squid server would be on my network at home (possibly portfoward, or DMZ), so for example....If I'm at my office and something is blocked I could log into a web interface to access the proxy....

I know I can do all this with ssh...but I think it be cool to do a real proxy. SSH is easy...its just a matter of
ssh -D 8080 -p 22 username@url/or IP
and configure your web browser to use...
