[SOLVED] Re: 10.04 lucid and realtek wireless drivers

It appears that this post for help coincided with another Linux kernel update to version 2.6.32.24 by the Ubuntu team. Every major kernel update usually requires manually reinstalling the driver...

    [ubuntu] Re: 10.04 lts

    bobgump,

You are experiencing the infamous i8xx Intel video bug. To use Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on this machine, you'll need to try 'Workaround A' as described here.
  6. [ubuntu] Re: A solution to Fixing the Missing Network Manager Icon in Ubuntu 9.10

I'm fully up-to-date on updates (karmic-security, karmic-updates) and the problem persists. So, no, it hasn't been fixed. At least not on my machines.
  7. [SOLVED] Re: Disable password for mounting drives in Karmic

Hey Flecto. I should clarify why I edited the sudoers file first before explaining how to do it. I wanted to mount encrypted TrueCrypt containers (virtual drives) without Ubuntu asking for my...
  8. [SOLVED] Re: Disable password for mounting drives in Karmic

On further testing, that actually did not work for me. Ubuntu 9.10 still kept asking for password, even after logging out and rebooting. The solution: edit the /etc/sudoers file directly (not...

[all variants] Re: Dell Inspiron 1545

Almost any combination of hardware on the Canadian 1545 should work well with Ubuntu. I would avoid the ATI graphics option if you don't need higher-end graphics, as Ubuntu works quite well with the...

[all variants] Re: Dell Inspiron 1545

Why not just get an Inspiron 1545 (15n) with Ubuntu already pre-installed from Dell? Mine just arrived and it is great. Don't pay for a Windows license if you don't need one. This notebook is already...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: No 3G in NetworkManager (8.10) - only GSM and GPRS

Support for "3G" networks like GSM and GPRS is limited and relatively basic in 8.10, from what I've read. You need to find out if your network is GSM or GPRS, and go from there.

    [ubuntu] Re: wrong Login resolution
