Add the word
splash back to the end of the kernel line and reboot. This should take care of it.
If it is just for a user, you can remove the user's .ssh directory. If for the server, remove the /etc/ssh/ssh_host* files. When SSH starts again, it will generate new keys. Curious as to why they...
Sounds like you might have fortune running. Check /etc/bash.bashrc to see if it running fortune and then comment it out.
You might need to set up another interface for your '88088". or put the 88088 at the end of the first localhost line.

your pstree output means 128 processes are started, not that 128 connections are allowed.
First, have you run the "check CD for errors" option on the boot screen?
This clears the CD of being the problem.
If this passes, next run the "memcheck" option.
This clears most of the hardware...
You can just right click in the desktop and create a new launcher with this command in it.

It doesn't come with a configure script. You should be able to compile using gcc. Edit your Makefile to change the following to gcc (assuming you have gcc installed).

I would recommend going to 0.5.8. I did find some other references out in the wild about 0.5.7 having bugs where it wouldn't daemonize on initial start.
