[ubuntu] Re: Stereo to 2 physical outputs

I don't know how to do it in software but you could get a doubler adapter from somewhere like Maplin (UK) or Radio Shack (US) to get 2 x 'main' outputs

Open PC box. Find wires going to speaker, they should go to a pair of pins on the motherboard labelled SPKR. Disconnect the wires from the motherboard.

Thin-client is great for processor-intensive applications *especially* somewhere like a school. Class 1 you can have 30 students hammering the CPU, Class 2 you have 30 students typing up assignment,...

  11. [ubuntu] Re: 9.04 X / Nvidia - Very badly broken - drivers?

  12. [ubuntu] Re: 9.04 X / Nvidia - Very badly broken - drivers?

I tried that. Downloaded NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run but it refuses to run unless I run it as root. Doesn't want to run under sudo.

I suppose on the bright side it hasn't made things more...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: 9.04 X / Nvidia - Very badly broken - drivers?

I have tried doing this, which I found online, booting as root

[ubuntu] Re: Mouse pointer is corrupted square

Does this seem like a software problem or a hardware problem? I'm going to get a new video card which has been recommended, but it will be annoying if that doesn't solve it.

    [ubuntu] Re: printing address labels

I'd suggest a mono laser printer, labels are likely to be cheaper than ones for inkjet printers.

Ex-office HP LaserJets are cheap as chips. Surely Linux must support them?
