Re: Are you supporting the Ubuntu Edge campaign?

I find it sad there are (so) few people with vision. Plenty however, who are more than willing to participate in using "free" operating software and the applications built for it. Where do they think...

  3. Re: What was your start with Linux, and then Ubuntu?

Started toying with Linux pre-2007. I tried Debian 'Woody'. Found, tried, and liked Kubuntu. Started with Edgy Eft and became a full-on Linux user in March 2007. I have used Ubuntu, but just prefer...

Are you supporting the Ubuntu Edge campaign?

Ubuntu Forums has a huge member base. But how many Ubuntu enthusiasts have committed to support Canonical's Ubuntu Edge campaign?

I'll be up front: I don't use Ubuntu Linux (I did early on); I use...

Re: Installation not working!!!! Please Help!!!

"...so I loaded a ubuntu 13.04 iso on a flash drive."

Did you just 'copy' the .iso file to the drive, or actually create LiveUSB? It sounds like you just copied the file, and that won't work.

  7. [ubuntu] Re: Older Intel Motherboard Compatability With Linux OS

If you aren't into gaming, then the Intel GPUs are fine. If the local vendors will permit, bring along a LiveCD/USB and ask if you can 'try' Ubuntu on the PCs you are considering.
  8. [all variants] Re: Ubuntu showing incorrect partition use space

On what basis are you claiming that 40% of the 1.8T /media/Media (mounted) partition is used? From the output you provided, 196M (Megabytes) is used.

    Re: 13.04 install wont continue

You have to make space available for Ubuntu, meaning, you will have to shrink the D: drive so you have un-allocated space on the HDD. That space can then be used by the Ubuntu installer, although you...

Re: Windows 8 to Ubuntu without losing anything?

Standard answer is "backup what you want to keep" to an external device before you do anything. You are also going to want to read up on UEFI and Secure Boot and confirm what your laptop mobo has.

Instead of using sudo apt-get upgrade, use sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Then try installing fslint.

[ubuntu] Re: Documents files lost after an update

We still need to know (you haven't actually said) what your mean by 'update'. You are now running 12.10. Were you running 12.04 before this 'update'? How did you update?

[ubuntu] Re: Documents files lost after an update

Obviously, that shouldn't have happened. You say you did an update. Are you sure, or did you 'upgrade' your Ubuntu by installing the newer version from a LiveUSB/DVD? If that is the case, and you...

Re: Conky has a gui at last.

Yes, vnstat. I have 'limited' download bandwidth, but it's substantial, and I never go over, plus, the unused bandwidth for the month is 'rolled over' to the next.
