Deleted inoperable program. I do not understand why programs are requiring access to the keyring. I am not reinstalling Ubuntu and formatting the /home partition just for an IM program.
I decided to give Empathy a try being it is the default IM program for Karmic and have run into a problem. Empathy needs to use the keyring. I have never set up the key ring and it does not except...
If you are using Karmic
sudo update-grub
Hardy, Intrepid and Jaunty
gksu /boot/grub/menu.list skim down the list and find the entry for the Windows XP chainloader and delete it.
If you want the Ubuntu Desktop Environment just enter this command.
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop I will warn you though, when you do this it will have to download more than 1200MB. There are...
You can't get it to install via the Network Connections? You shouldn't have to install any drivers unless you have a rare USB wireless adapter. If you have one that will not work without a driver,...
Please give us a screenshot or copy of the text output of the scan showing the name and type of file infected. Clam is known for false positives. In your case, there may be a Windows virus or just a...
Got aircrack and macchanger installed now. Between those wireshark and nmap, I think I have enough toys to play with to get me through my NIDS classes.
Thanks,

You need to get that off of your machine. It is part of a Denial of Service attack. It is using your server to attack someone else's server and your server's NIC is efficient enough to flood your own...
I have tried Back|Track 4 and I am wondering what would be some cool tools to have on Ubuntu for penetration testing and doing things with wireless that are in the Ubuntu repository. I would prefer...
:lolflag: It is always great when the fix is easy.
I am wondering if there was an update to a library file that is used by both Ubuntu releases and not really a problem caused by FF.
I ditched Firefox on Linux when they went from 3.5 to 3.6. It no longer works with Cisco's web course, yet it works fine on Mozilla's Windows version. I am using Google Chrome and it works great.
Sounds like maybe someone's using this system for a denial of service attack. Maybe the Tribe Flood Network attack.
LoJack?
Should be easy. Just don't touch any of the circuits or a bit of static could ruin your system. I have a few of them I swap out when testing other systems.
Here is a copy of what my menu.list shows for the memtest entry. You may also want to check and make sure this file in the boot folder is there and that it didn't get messed up when it was copied....
Got it fixed yet?
I prefer to be able to sit back and read a book over the harsh light of a monitor anyday, but to each their own.:)
I'd like to see your pics after reading a Dean Koontz novel.
I know the feeling, I get the UBUNTUSTUDIO splash, then a few seconds of that karmic splash. I do admit that I like the Koala's splash.
I just did maintenance on a PC that still has Kazaa on it. It doesn't work and can't be deleted, though I have run a few virus and malware programs on it. I love virus free Ubuntu.
Cool. I appreciate the help. My main priorty is making the system to where if my in-law says she doesn't want Ubuntu, I don't have to reinstall Windows or anything like that to keep XP running. After...
My mom-in-law asked me to clean up an old XP system for her to use while her primary system is sent back to HP for warranty work. I tweaked XP the best I could without reinstalling. (She doesn't have...
